Why China? Why then? Why not! |
||
| The following is an account of my trip to China in 2001. The first few days were spent in Shanghai, which is China's most forward thinking city, after which I headed to Chengdu and South West Jiaotong University in Sichuan province near Tibet. |
The reason for the trip was two fold, to study the Chinese language -both speaking and reading, and to immerse myself in a different culture / get away from day to day life in Houston, Texas and gain some perspective on my life and future (yeah I know... I could have done that from South Dakota...). |
Some of the most memorable moments / events of the trip were: the First impressions of China, eating real Kung Pao Chicken, basketball and ping pong (that's what the Chinese call it), morning telephone conversations with my girlfriend Ruby, seeing Red and Giant Pandas, taking Chinese painting classes, eating Hot Pot, great traffic and crazy people, no- that's crazy traffic and great people. |
