Some Things You Can Prepare For
Some things you can prepare for, some things you’d never guess Crop up between the day to day, blind-side you more or less Life’s gotta a funny way, of showing you who’s boss Lord giveth and he takes away the hurt, the pain and loss There ain’t a single thing to do, nothing I can say That’ll bring your mama back to you, [for] she’s up in heaven today The memories, they’ll come rushing back, and you know what you’d say If you could have just one more hour with her this blessed day: For all the times you held me, kissed me when I cried All the times you listened, sitting by my side You taught me about Jesus, told me of his love Helped me fold my little hands, as we placed our trust in God I wonder if you ever knew, just how you touched our lives The sunny days and cloudy too, our mother, friend, and wife You’re truly in a better place; with God you’ve found your rest But it still hurts that you’re not here, we were truly blest [For] all the times you held us, kissed us when we cried All the times you listened, sitting by our side You followed in His footsteps, believed in His great love Folded tight your praying hands, and placed your trust in God Tomorrow comes and lives go on, and so too must our own God’s plan for us is not done; we live for Him alone So until that day when trumpets sound, we shall carry on While saints look down from heaven, we make our journey home
